Scandlines' green agenda

Scandlines has a vision: green ferry operation. We already operate with hybrid ferries which are much more eco-friendly than conventional ferries. Our goal: ferry operation covered by pure battery power within a few years. That is our project ZERO EMISSION.

Scandlines is a pioneer in terms of green ferry operationsSix out of our eight ferries are hybrid ferries and thus, Scandlines owns and operates the world’s largest hybrid fleet. But things don’t stop here. Moreover, Scandlines owns the world’s largest hybrid ferries, M/V Berlin and M/V Copenhagen, which operate the route Gedser-Rostock.

A hybrid ferry operates on a combination of conventional fuel and electricity.
 
Hybrid ferries are much more eco-friendly that conventional ferries operating on diesel. Since 2013, Scandlines has invested appr. 365 MEUR in green technologies and new ferries.

Our goal is to go zero emission on Rødby-Puttgarden already within a few years.
