We have terminated the SMILE program on 31 January 2024.

In 2024, we terminated the SMILE program and thus the opportunity to earn points and use points as payment at Scandlines. If you are a SMILE member, you will no longer be able to use your SMILE card  to pay for ferry tickets (partially or in full) or food and drinks on board or to make purchases on the ferry and in BorderShop.

Special offers and benefits should be for everyone

However, we will continue to give you lots of good reasons to sail with Scandlines, whether you're taking the family on a holiday or you’re off on a short trip. That's why we want to offer ALL our customers great prices and promotional offers.

We have several initiatives up our sleeves to make the sailing between Denmark and Germany worthwhile. One of them is a new app coming in 2024 that will provide a simple overview of your journey, current discounts, special offers and much more. We’re also going to make check-in at the ferry much easier in 2024 – so you can drive straight through thanks to number plate recognition.

You can redeem unused points

Unused points can be redeemed up to and including 31 January 2025. Log in to your SMILE profile to see your point balance and more details.

  • Yes – we will have special offers and promotional discounts on board that apply to all customers, and during 2024 we will launch a new app where you can easily get an overview of your journey, current discounts, special offers and much more.

  • Of course they will be! We intend to make the sailing between Denmark and Germany worthwhile – for everyone, not just members. That's why we’ll regularly offer promotional discounts on our ferry tickets and favourable prices on our 1-day tickets.

  • We will continue to have great offers and promotional discounts on board and on our ferry tickets and favourable prices on our 1-day tickets.

    We’re also going to make your journey easier in 2024, with a new app and check-in via number plate recognition, getting you on board quickly.

  • As a SMILE+ member with an ongoing membership, your payment for your SMILE+ membership will be refunded in the same way you can redeem any SMILE points. We'll refund the full amount, even if you've already used your membership for some of the period. Log in to your SMILE profile and find out how to claim your payment.

  • We will still send out emails, but we will need to get your consent again to be able to send them to you.

    You can give this to us by signing up for the Scandlines newsletter here – and we'll make sure you continue to receive newsletters, special offers and travel tips from us.

  • You can delete your SMILE profile – and your data – at any time by logging in to your SMILE profile and selecting 'Delete your profile' under the 'Member Info' menu item.

    NOTE: If you have SMILE points that you want to redeem in connection with the termination of SMILE, do NOT delete your profile – your earned points will also be deleted.

  • We currently have no plans for a new benefits program along the same lines as SMILE. But we're working on great new special offers – and on more initiatives to make your journey between Denmark and Germany easier.

  • Yes, we will continuously add new partners, and you can always see who our current partners are here.

  • Unfortunately, we can only offer payment with IBAN and SWIFT/BIC. If your bank does not have this option, we can offer you a gift card equal to the value of your SMILE points, which you can use on board all our ferries. Contact customer services to find out more.
